Chopin Piano Competition 2025

Last week Eric Lu, an American and Massachusetts native, won the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland. According to the New York Times, the event is “what some call the Olympics of the piano world” and over the course of multiple rounds, Lu beat out 180 other competitors to win the prestigious title.

For his final-round performance, Lu played the solo work Polonaise-Fantasy in A flat major, Op. 61, as well as the Concerto in F minor, Op. 21 accompanied by the Warsaw Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra.

If you have a minute, watching even part of his hour-long performance is sure to inspire.
